20th Anniversary.
Opal and I are in Redlands visiting Uncle George and Aunt Delia (Bangle) Edwards. He is getting up around 90 years in age and he and Aunt Delia were making preparations to turn over responsibility for his business. George said, “Charlie, if you had a house and lot in Redlands, would you move back here?”   He owns property on Tribune Street and is building up to offering us a home, but I cut him short, “Uncle George, one thing I can’t get over. I would love to own a home and we could live in Redlands. But I don’t like the idea of living in Redlands because I experienced too much poverty in Redlands and lived through too many Redlands’ depressions.” Orange growers were mighty skimpy on the wages and you simply could not live comfortably. If you earned your living as a working man, you didn’t want to ply your trade in Redlands, California.
